The appearance of involvement rather than actual involvement, is just as admirable to the masses. Some develop strong memes to build up non-substantive reputations and accept the dopamine hits of reward and pleasure.

Gurus in the past have done this and abused this power dynamic to manipulate and exploit the weak.

The notion of empty mind excludes ego-tripping.
